Latinx at the University of Mississippi

Latinx  refers to a person of Latin American origin or descent and is used as the non-binary alternative to Latino or Latina.

This project attempts to document some of the community that identifies as Latinx and includes students, staff, and faculty at the University of Mississippi during the Spring 2019 semester.

 

Abby Perez is a senior journalism major and member of Alpha Delta Pi. She has focused her writing during college on the Latinx populations of Mississippi. 
Ariadna Lugo Huerta is the internationl enrollment counselor for pre-college programs.
Ashlynn Principe is a senior international studies major.
Brittany Brown is a senior journalism major and student in the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College.
Edgar Serrano is an instructor in the Spanish department.
Fernando Arroyo Lopez is a Ph.D. student in nutrition & hospitality management.
Glenna Lusk is a second year law student.
Hernan Garrido is a Spanish instructor in the Department of Modern Languages.
 Hilda Nieblas is a Ph.D. student in higher education and is also the graduate community director at Luckyday Residential College. 
Ingrid Valbuena Alcina is a master's student in integrated marketing and communications.
Israel Rivas is a senior political science major.
Jose Torrado Gil is a junior mechanical engineering major. He is the current president of the Latin American Student Organization (LASO).
Julio Cazares is a first year law student and founding member of the local chapter of the Latino Law Students Association (LLSA).
 Raquel Noboa Vera is a senior banking & finance major.
Rosa Salas Gonzalez is a senior pursuing her B.F.A. in studio art with an emphasis in ceramics.
Rulian Ferreira de Almeida Barros is a Ph.D. student in engineering science.
